MATCH PREVIEW | Broncos visit AMT Headingley for Reserves clash
With only five games remaining before the mid-season split, Leeds Rhinos Reserves look to solidify their position in the top six as Chev Walker's side takes on London Broncos at AMT Headingley as part of a huge double header on Saturday, kick off 1pm.
A place in the top six of this year's Reserves competition qualifies clubs for the opportunity to play for a place in the Grand Final during the second half of the season, as opposed to the bottom six teams who play for pride. Having battled to win one match during the opening games of the season, the Rhinos have found form in recent weeks as they have risen from eighth to fourth in the current standings thanks to high-scoring wins over Bradford and Huddersfield.
Three tries in back-to-back games has seen Riley Lumb storm to the top of the try scoring charts as the winger has 11 tries, whilst Oscar Brown has a total of eight tries in the wins over the Bulls and Giants as the centre continues to impress.
Saturday's game is the first meeting between the Rhinos and Broncos in two years, after the Broncos Reserves were taken out of the competition in 2025. Since 2022 when the Reserves grade returned, Leeds won both games against the Broncos, starting with a 40-20 result in 2022 before a 70-10 result saw 13 tries secure a confident win for the Rhinos early in the 2023 campaign.
The Broncos provided a shock last weekend as they defeated current Reserves league leaders Warrington Wolves 32-28 in their biggest result of the season. Tries from Liam Tindall, Rob Oakley, Sadiq Adebiyi, Joe Porter, Brandon Webster-Mansfield and Bobby Hartley got the result for the Broncos, who have three wins in five games to sit on the brink of a top-six spot.
Along with wins over Leigh and Hull KR, the Broncos are out to provide another shock on Saturday before games against Bradford, St Helens and Wigan await in May.
